Spooky Pine Cone SPider Instructions
This menacing and spooky pine cone spider is perfect for someone that wants to create something that is less cute and more scary. The shiny plastic necklace beads used for eyes give them a nice glossy effect that makes them seem to glow.
What you will need to make this craft:
Spray Paint Pine Cone Black and glue On Pom Pom
Start by spray painting the pine cone the desired color, we chose black. We got a can cheap can of no gloss black spray painted for just over a two dollars and decided to paint a bunch of pine cones at one time. Allow paint to dry completely for 24 hours preferable outdoors. Once dry you glue the large black pom pom to the bottom of the pine cone using a Low-Temp Glue Gun to create the head shape.
Create Spooky Spider Legs
Now lets create the legs for your spooky pine cone spider. Start by cutting about one inch off all four of the pipe cleaners. Do this by evening them all up and cutting them all with one cut. After all four have been cut even them up again and pinch the middle with both hands and twist them around creating 8 legs all twisted together. I like to try to twist them all the around each other one full time to ensure they are secure.
Now gently begin to work the spider legs into the belly of your pine cone. Carefully spread the legs out between the pine cone petals as evenly as possible and try to resemble real spider legs. When complete Yours should look something like the ones in the picture below.
Create Spooky Spider Eyes
Now create two eye sockets for the beads to fit into. Use the tip of your scissors to start the socket and then put the tip of your finger into the hole to widen it. At this point, put a drop of white school glue into each of the sockets and attach the beads to create the eye. Using white school glue for this is much more forgiving than hot glue as it allows you the needed time to position the eyes before the glue sets up. Once the glue is tacky you can smooth the fuzzy material of the pom pom to slightly close the sockets around the bead.
Congratulations your Spooky Pine Cone Spider is complete!
